Cody Miller operates Excel Ranches with his wife Amy and their children Lincoln, Avery and Brooks and parents Ron and Barb. Their passion for their cattle have seen the farm move the ranch forward in the last years and currently they are breeding over 250 Purebred Limousin and Angus females, marketing bulls through their own on farm bull sale the second Thursday in March. Cody is an active believer in the use of technology, indexing and has always concentrated heavily on very maternal genetics and is always looking to source genetics from across the country to improve the herd. Cody and Amy have been active in many local/provincial/national beef associations and active in putting on local Junior/4-H judging clinics, and judging 4-H and junior shows. Cody’s young family also keeps him very busy with hockey, ringette, dance and baseball but in his spare time he loves to talk cattle and especially improving the Limousin breed.

Kira Axley operates K. Axley Limousin at Czar, AB alongside her family’s farm and purebred limousin operation. Growing up in the Limousin breed and having found great success exhibiting limousin influenced cattle through the 4-H program Kira has become a strong advocate of the versatility and profitability the breed offers. Kira was an active member of the CJLA until aging out a few years ago, which is when she joined the provincial board to continue serving the Limousin breeders and advocating for the breed. Kira enjoys exhibiting their cattle across the province at various cattle events throughout the year and networking with producers alike. When not at home managing or preparing their own cattle for exhibiting, you will often find Kira traveling to Australia where she has found her second home with many great Limousin breeders!

I grew up west of Ponoka on Diamond C Ranch where my family raises purebred Limousin, Limflex & Charolais Cattle. We have a bull sale every March on the ranch and this year is our 24th Annual sale! We like to exhibit our cattle at the major fall shows and congresses, if the weather and farming allows. I live by Big Valley with my husband, Bryce Stewart, where we grain farm and are continuing on with the Diamond C purebred operation. I was an active 4H member for 8 years and thoroughly enjoyed my time. I love to contribute back to the youth programs, whether it be grooming/showing clinics or judging junior shows alongside Bryce. I am super grateful to be raised in the agricultural and western way of life, it’s a lifestyle that is second to none! I am also a big advocate for Limousin genetics. The Limousin cross has proven itself to be profitable, whether it be in purebred herds or for the commercial cattlemen. I look forward to my time on the ALA board bringing in some new ideas and promoting the Limousin breed.
FARMFAIR BREED REPRESENTATIVE

MacArthur Kowalchuk
bardiamondkcattle@gmail.com
587-280-1347
MacArthur Kowalchuk operates Bar Diamond K Cattle with his fiancé Madison Maschke near Willingdon AB. The Limousin breed, whether it was purebred or commercial, has been in the family from when his grandfather Marshal Kowalchuk operated Bar 7K Limousin back in the early 80’s into the 90’s. Being in 4-H MacArthur bought and raised cattle lighting the flame to start his own purebred operation. Representing Canada in Billings Montana and representing Alberta at the CWA for judging MacArthur has put on judging and clipping clinics to help the next generation in this industry. The past 2 years he served as the ALA president and Barn Boss for FarmFair international.
